March 2020 Transform the Area Enhancing Life Chances

Branding in the Public Realm

About the Project

Culture Mile has continued to develop a public realm brand for Culture Mile and suggest ways in which it will physically manifest itself throughout the cultural district.

Working with the City of London Corporation Public Realm team, the branding project aims to improve wayfinding, raise awareness and increase the visibility of Culture Mile across the area, creating a more vibrant and welcoming environment for residents, visitors and workers, and support people returning to the City after the pandemic. The project includes the installation of branded vinyls on Culture Mile founding partners’ windows, planters, bollards, panels in the Beech Street tunnel, on the lift on Moor Lane and wall markers.

Using a pattern developed by designer Richard Wolfstrome, directly inspired by the Culture Mile logo and the distinctive brutalist architecture of the area, the project aligns with the Culture Mile Public Realm Branding Guidelines, which were approved in November 2019.

The implementation of Phase 1 was completed in July 2021 with Phase 2 planned for 2022.
